A New Era of Outer Banks Baseball Begins
Flying Dutchmen Become the Outer Banks Swinging Mullets
The Old North State League (ONSL) is proud to announce an exciting new chapter for summer collegiate baseball on the Outer Banks. The team formerly known as the Outer Banks Flying Dutchmen will officially take the field as the Outer Banks Swinging Mullets, under new ownership and a renewed vision focused on community, fun, and unforgettable game-day experiences.
The name change represents more than a rebrand, reflecting a fresh start and a deeper commitment to building a team identity that celebrates the unique personality, humor, and coastal culture of the Outer Banks. With new ownership in place, the Swinging Mullets are focused on creating an atmosphere that locals and visitors alike can rally around, blending competitive baseball with a family-friendly entertainment.
“Baseball on the Outer Banks should feel accessible, fun, and rooted in the community,” said Jim Price, Owner of the Outer Banks Swinging Mullets. “The Swinging Mullets’ name captures that spirit. This team is about bringing people together, creating memories, and building something special that feels uniquely Outer Banks.”
The Outer Banks Swinging Mullets will continue competing in the Old North State League’s Tidewater Division, facing teams including the Tarboro River Bandits, River City Skippers, New Bern Southpaws, and Edenton Steamers. Home games will be played at First Flight High School’s Baseball Complex providing an intimate and energetic setting for summer baseball.
With the 2026 season approaching, the organization is actively recruiting collegiate players from across the country, finalizing its coaching staff, and expanding community initiatives such as host family programs, youth engagement, and themed game nights. Fans can expect exciting promotions, special events, local food trucks, and creative in-game experiences that make each home game more than just baseball. It is a night out on the Outer Banks.
The Swinging Mullets remain committed to offering affordable, family-friendly entertainment while strengthening connections with local businesses, organizations, and fans throughout the region.
