Outer Banks Swinging Mullets Add Versatile Player Andrew Merz to 2026 Roster

The Outer Banks Swinging Mullets are excited to announce the addition of Andrew Merz, a catcher and first baseman from Lawrence Technological University, to the team’s 2026 summer collegiate baseball roster.

Merz, listed at 6’2″ and 210 lbs, brings a combination of offensive firepower and defensive versatility to the Mullets. A key contributor for the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils in the NAIA’s Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, Merz has displayed consistent performance at the plate and in the field, helping his college team in multiple offensive situations.

Last summer, Merz earned attention as a member of the Outer Banks Flying Dutchmen, delivering standout moments including home runs in both his final at-bat of the season at First Flight Complex and his last at bat of the summer, memorable achievements that highlighted his ability to make an impact in clutch situations.

“Andrew is the kind of competitor you want in your lineup,” said Mikey Reynolds, Head Coach of the Outer Banks Swinging Mullets. “He’s shown power, consistency, and a knack for big moments. Having him back on the Outer Banks this summer will be a real boost for our offense and overall depth.”

The Outer Banks Swinging Mullets compete in the Old North State League (ONSL) and play home games at First Flight High School’s Baseball Complex, providing fans with a competitive, community-focused baseball experience throughout the summer.
