Outer Banks Swinging Mullets Add Versatile Infielder Colby Smart to 2026 Roster

The Outer Banks Swinging Mullets have announced the addition of infielder Colby Smart to their 2026 summer collegiate roster.
Smart, a 5’10”, 190-pound infielder, bats left-handed and throws right-handed while playing both second base and third base. He began his collegiate career at Panola College before medically redshirting at Dallas College – Eastfield. Now fully focused on returning to competitive form, Smart joins the Mullets as he works toward securing a collegiate opportunity for the upcoming fall season.
“Colby brings resilience and maturity to our roster,” said Head Coach Mikey Reynolds. “He’s hungry to get back on the field and prove himself, and that kind of mindset fits perfectly with what we’re building here.”
Beyond baseball, Smart recently returned from a two-year church mission in Layton, Utah, where he served the Micronesian community and became fluent in the Chuukese language. His time away from the game strengthened his discipline and leadership, qualities that now translate back into his approach on the field.
The Outer Banks Swinging Mullets compete in the Old North State League (ONSL) and play home games at First Flight High School’s Baseball Complex, providing high-level collegiate baseball in a family-friendly environment throughout the summer.
