Batten Down the Hatches: Flying Dutchmen Are Coming to the ONSL

Outer Banks, NC – January 14, 2025 – The Old North State League (ONSL) is thrilled to announce the addition of the Outer Banks Flying Dutchmen to its roster for the upcoming 2025 season. This expansion brings summer collegiate baseball back to the Outer Banks, with the Flying Dutchmen set to compete in the Tidewater Division alongside teams such as the Clayton Clovers, Tarboro River Bandits, River City Skippers, New Bern Southpaws, and Edenton Steamers.

The team's name, the Flying Dutchmen, was selected through a community-driven "Name the Team" contest, reflecting the rich maritime heritage and spirited culture of the Outer Banks. The Flying Dutchmen will play their home games at First Flight High School, with the inaugural season commencing on June 1, 2025.

"We are excited to bring summer collegiate baseball back to the Outer Banks," said Alec Allred, President of The Players League. "The community's enthusiasm and involvement in naming the team demonstrate the strong support for local baseball. We look forward to the Flying Dutchmen creating new traditions and rivalries in the ONSL."

The coaching staff is actively recruiting talented collegiate players nationwide, aiming to build a competitive team that embodies the resilience and determination associated with the Flying Dutchmen legend. Additionally, the organization is seeking host families within the community to accommodate players during the season, fostering a deeper connection between the team and local residents.
